Super Mario 64 (N64) Full Playthrough/Walkthrough Part 14: Tick Tock Clock
On June 23, 1996, 21 years ago, the Nintendo 64 was released. Along with it came Super Mario 64, a revolutionary title that took Mario into the third dimension with a new style of gameplay: large worlds that could be explored without time limit, stars that acted as gifts for completing objectives and new moves and power ups that left a very memorable impression on those lucky enough to play it when it first came out. Each world had its own objectives, collectables and hidden stars to find (as well as 15 hidden outside the levels). So, with Super Mario 64 finally reaching the drinking age, I wanted to celebrate by revisiting the game.
This video walkthrough will take you through all 15 worlds and will show you how to collect all 120 stars hidden throughout the castle. Each world has six stars to collect with a hidden seventh for finding 100 coins and each video in the series will cover one world (with one video covering the 15 hidden stars). If you're stuck trying to find that elusive star or need help getting to a certain world, look no further! Keep in mind that this video is applicable to the Nintendo 64 version. The Nintendo DS version has numerous changes and additions to the game that make it vastly different and this video will not help you with most of it.
This video covers the fourteenth world, Tick Tock Clock, which is unlocked after obtaining 50 stars and going through the star door upstairs. This world also has a trick in that if the minute hand is on 12, 3, 6 or 9 when you enter, it will affect the clockwork. 12 stops it completely, 3 slows it, 6 randomizes it and 9 doubles the speed. Some stars require the clockwork to move while others require it to be stopped so be aware of that. Also, I highly recommend grabbing the 100 coin star on the "Stomp on the Thwomp" star, as you will need the clockwork to move to get the 100 coin star and the above star requires you to go to the very top of the clock. All 7 stars can be obtained without the help of unlockable caps.
