Player Level determines where your Course is placed in the playlist. Not Course number, not randomly drawn from a hat. Higher Level = Later Level (so highest = last). There is of course still the rule that they cannot have the same course back to back unless it is the first and last in the playlist.


This was one of my last games I played still testing my theory, almost didn't expect 3-2 to come after 8-4 so I was stressing out over time a lot (missing the right pipe, getting hit to freeze the timer).

Have been trying to do more Coin Ranking runs as people have gotten some really good scores (I think a 6,000 by now) and I have started to notice I never play the Course I choose (unless it is a common pick).

If I do end up playing my chosen Course, it ends up being the last in the playlist, at the very least when I am the highest level account in the lobby.

Even looking at my unlocking courses video, so many times I clear my pick and get wrapped back around to 1-1.

I think it is a little silly as even getting through 25~ Courses without Warp Pipes can be difficult so it could feel like my choice doesn't matter, but for now if I want to win I personally choose stages that generate a ton of time. If I can get to the stage when the clock is red and counting down quickly and my opponent does not I have a lot better chance to win.

Of course, people can just lose to normal Hammer Bros like in this game.

I definitely think Special Battle will be the more interesting mode for me going forward though.
