Update: This mod will not be finished. I'm officially fed up of everyone begging for it, telling me I'm awful for not finishing it, when I clearly have other priorities. I always intended to come back to this project in future, but screw it, no more. You reap what you sow.

So, hello and welcome to this video! In case you missed the first Super Mario Galaxy 2 Split Screen Multiplayer trailer, this mod is an endeavour by Chadderz and MrBean35000vr to add split-screen multiplayer, or co-op, to Super Mario Galaxy 2 for Wii. One player plays as Mario, one player plays as Luigi, and they both take to the stars in search of... more stars. In this video, the top screen is Mario, and the bottom screen is Luigi.
This is a much more comprehensive video than the initial trailer that was posted by me a few weeks back, and also serves as an opportunity for me and Chadderz to tell you a bit more about how things are going, and how things are working. Remember, this mod is nowhere near complete yet, so there are no downloads, but we will continue to post news about our progress, so keep checking back!
In this video, I finally had more hands available, so there are actually two people playing instead of me attempting to do stuff with both characters. Partway through is a demonstration with our hands to show that the controls are indeed correctly mapped for the most part. In case, you have the video on mute, or can't hear us, the golden Wiimote is controlling Luigi, who is on the lower screen.
One thing that we have noticed about the current cameras is that they are a perhaps a bit too zoomed out; we'll most likely move them inwards a bit so you can see the characters more clearly for final release.
The following is a repeat of what I posted on my previous video, detailing how the character interaction will be handled in the final release.
Both characters will have their own HP meter, and freedom to explore, kill enemies, etc. Lives, starbits and coins are shared, and if either player loses a life, both players have to go back to the beginning/to the checkpoint that they last obtained. It seems that if one player encounters a cutscene, the other player will be warped to that location (for things like boss fights, to avoid glitches that may occur from having a character outside the fight). Mario and Luigi will also be able to interact with each other, knocking each other around should they see fit, but obviously no damage will be taken from friendly fire :P
We are hoping to have a playable demo out before the end of this year. Possibly a lot earlier if progress continues so well; but bear in mind that anything could get in our way, even the simplest little things... and those could take ages to solve. Naturally, a video will be posted on launch date, so if you're interested... you know where to check ;)
