It had to be done at some point, so I decided to get it out of the way.

Update (10/23/15): 3000+ views, and I just found out someone took footage of ProtonJon being unlucky enough playing this level on stream (https://youtu.be/Rzo9ZYzfFSs?t=190). Also, another user named Jon "Ankarua" beat this level; unfortunately he is not Canadian nor related to protons. Congrats, though! (https://miiverse.nintendo.net/users/Ankarua)
Update (10/9/15): 2500+ views, and shout-out to Brodie for being the first to beat this! (https://miiverse.nintendo.net/users/thebigchizzler)
Update (9/13/15): Featured on GoNintendo! http://www.gonintendo.com/stories/242586-super-mario-maker-user-created-tribute-to-the-fan-made-kaizo-m

For the uninitiated, Kaizo Mario World is an extremely well-known Japanese romhack of Super Mario World that is notorious for being brutally hard. It had everything from floating munchers to irritating Chargin' Chucks to 100 seconds on the timer to end-of-level 'Kaizo' traps to even a Pokey that refuses to move faster. With the release of Super Mario Maker for the Wii U, of course people are going to make their own Kaizo levels. What I wanted to do, however, was port the entirety of the first level of Kaizo 1 to Super Mario Maker, just to see if it could be done. This is the result. Now for obvious reasons this video does not contain the whole level (I would kill to have full gameplay of the level on my laptop, kek), but you can tell I wanted it to be as accurate to the original as possible.

One of the more notable differences is that the Bullet Bill blasters don't go any lower than 2 blocks high, meaning I had to adjust the length of the series of bounces to compensate. This already meant I had to work with the New Super Mario Bros. U skin (so I could use the Wall-Jump). However, in turn this let me work in probably one of the more abused mechanics - the mid-air spin. You'll want to use this more often than not to gain more height.

Another major difference is the lack of Chargin' Chucks. For the most part they've been replaced with the Winged Pirahna plant, but for enemies that just wouldn't cut it I replaced them with other enmies. Unfortunately, parachute-Goomba's are not in this game, so I had to replace the former with a red Paratroopa (which should teach you patience).

The reason for naming it Akihabara Anger is because in the original, the level's name (in Japanese) is Akihabara (at least when Translated, source is here: http://www.smwcentral.net/?p=viewthread&t=32637). I knew I wanted to choose a level name that worked that in while conveying the sheer brutality of it. Rough names I thought up of were Asinine Akihabara Alley, Agonizing Akihabara Alley, or just Akihabara Alley. I eventually decided Akihabara Anger was good enough (it reminded me of Brooklyn Rage for some reason).

I won't spoil the rest of the level, but keep in mind that, although it's more or less the same layout with heavy aesthetic upgrades (and a few little bonuses), with the enemy layout the way it is, it's now currently optimized for mechanics used in New Super Mario Bros. U. I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I had fun making it! (Although to be honest I hated playing it, blehhhhhhhh)
