[00:44] Peach’s Secret Stash Returns: Inside Peach’s bedroom, you can interact with a chair. You will find a secret item called simply marked by three question marks. Fans have speculated for well over 20 years that this is, in fact, a sex toy that Peach keeps stashed away for those lonely nights. It may just be a rumour, but it’s one we can’t shake.

[01:57] Never Stop Jumping On Enemies: What the game doesn’t tell you is that Mario’s Jump gets more powerful the more you use it. This will cap out at around 250 uses, and it makes it one of the most interesting and scalable attacks in the whole game.

[03:06] Super Jump To Earn Items: Visit Chow’s house – a dog monster – in Monstro Town and he’ll reward you for scoring consecutive Super Jumps. If you land 30 jumps in a row, you will get the rather useful Attack Scarf which can be used to buff your damage. This is pretty hard to pull off, but it is trivial compared to unlocking the Super Suit which requires a whopping 100 consecutive jumps.

[04:25] Perfectly Timed Inputs: The timing window is fairly generous, but if you want to get the most out of it, you need to aim for ‘Perfect Timing’. In both cases, this means hitting the button within a 5-frame window. This is, of course, quite difficult. If you manage to pull it off, however, you will deal even more damage OR reduce the damage you would have taken to ZERO. Even the most powerful attacks in the game can be Perfectly Blocked.

[05:55] Secret Of The Marrymore Inn: Purchasing the Suite costs a hefty 200 coins. If you choose to sleep in the room a second (or third, or fourth) time without the cash to pay for it, you’ll put Mario in debt! To pay it off, Mario will have to become a bellhop - working off his debt helping guests to their rooms. This is a great scene and one that many players will miss.

[07:12] Sleeping Cameos: The first Cameo is Link from the Legend Of Zelda games - funny how that works. To see Link’s cameo you need to go to Rose Town and collect the second star. Sleep at the Inn and lo and behold, Link is sleeping in one of the beds. Once you have made your way to Star Hill and collected the fifth star, return to the Mushroom Kingdom and visit the guest room in the castle. You can find Samus from Metroid having a nap – resting up for Mother Brain.

[08:43] Mystery Of Seaside Town’s Lucky Hammer: Once you can go to Seaside Town head to the shop. There, you can buy a Hammer. In its description, it states the hammer is LUCKY, and that isn’t a lie either. If you attack with this Hammer and land a PERFECT HIT, you will gain a Lucky Bonus Flower. Once the battle is over, you will gain a chance at 2x the usual experience if you win the minigame.

[09:56] Polymorph To Victory: To harness the power to Polymorph, you need three things: Peach, a Ring, and an Egg. Mystery Egg is sold at Toad’s Treasure Hunting Shop in Moleville for 200 gold and it can be equipped to Peach. The second step requires the mysterious Nurture Ring from Marrymore Hotel. Use the Mystery Egg 10 times with Princess Peach. Do this, and you will unlock the Lamb’s Lure item which turns one enemy into a sheep, instantly defeating them. Use the Lamb’s Lure 48 times and you’ll unlock the Sheep Attack, which turns all enemies on screen into sheep.

[11:12] Farming Unlimited Frog Coins: The trick is to head to the Land’s End desert and find some Antlions. Then all you have to do is jump on their head three times and BAM, Frog Coin. It’s a little tricky, but with practice Mario can become an antlion-bopping master. Do this over, and over again and you will quickly have a treasure trove’s worth of greenery to spend on whatever you want. Much quicker than finding invisible treasure chests.

[12: 35] Mario’s Ultimate Weapon: The Lazy Shell is given to you by the Rose Town Gardener, a character you can interact with fairly early on. The Toad requires a Seed and some Fertilizer. To find the Seed, defeat the big boss Megasmilax in Bean Valley. Next up, head to Nimbus Land and defeat Valentina. After that big boss fight, you can find a secret invisible path on the east edge of town. Talk to the Shy Guy and he will hand over the Fertilizer. Return to Rose Town and claim your kingly reward. With suit and shell combined, nothing can stop you.
