This is technically a remaster against Booster, even though we never did fight him in the optional boss battle in Booster Tower. The Booster's Charm accessory you get as a result of avoiding the battle proved to be all too invaluable in this challenge run, and the only thing I regret is not doing the battle for posterity's sake alone, as it could've been an addition to this series. Well, there's no escaping Booster now that we've beaten Smithy and carry on with the postgame content.
In the rematch, the main trick up Booster's sleeve is Loco Express 023, an updated version of his initial special attack, which is now an unblockable attack targeting all active party members for 9,999 damage. No joke. Using Red Essences helps block the damage until the effect wears off, but Booster can also get consistently interrupted by anything hitting him - even 1 dmg from Mario's Lucky Hammer strike will do. This kinda puts the whole sacrifice of Red Essences, painstakingly farmable in Grate Guy's Casino and by extension a PITA to get, into question, but I would argue that this usage is still justified, as the Snifster mooks endanger the low-level party with MT magic, which only Lazy Shell-protected Bowser can tank confidently, for the whole duration of the battle, and not having to resurrect anyone until they fall greatly facilitates the only tough segment of the fight.
When the ice-weak Snifsters fall, Booster loses the ability to fire his Loco Express 023 ever again, as he will ALWAYS be interrupted. Snifsters' Moral Support was the only way for him to circumvent the load time and fire it off before we are capable to intercept the move, which is a commonplace occurrence when not relying on Red Essence use for survival and sandbagging by reviving the fallen over and over again.
