After another miwillion attempts (yes, that's just a made up number), I managed to improve my score a bit more!

Collect 140 coins throughout the level. Each additional coin you collect after that is worth another 10 points.

I've made a couple of observations during my numerous attempts: First of all, once the double block factory glitch is running, standing there next to the block and cape spinning has no additional benefit. However, going around the level and collecting other coins while it's running does help (and also makes for a less boring video). After time expires, the other coins I collected still get added to my total, which helps a little bit. Also, being slightly more efficient with my moves (aside from the minor slip up on the vine at the start), and still getting lucky with the glitch helped somewhat as well. At the end of it all, my new non-TAS score is 8149 coins!

Note: It's not 8249, even though I ended with 87 lives, because I collected a 1-up mushroom during all this.

So, by collecting 8149 coins, that means this run is worth...

This is probably about the best I can do. I don't think I'd ever be able to match mro314's TAS run without tools (or even with tools), because I just can't get that trick to work for me. That's okay, though. I think I'm satified with this score.
