I figured before I jump into any more Super Metroid romhacks, I ought to give Project Base a look, knowing that many other hacks adopt some of its mechanics. This video encompasses my first playthrough and then some, going back to check out a couple of details I didn't fully pay attention to the first time. (I may have accidentally forgotten to check out Spore Spawn 3 times.)

While I was expecting new mechanics, I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of map changes, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover just how much this streamlines the original experience on both fronts.

Sure enough, all-items runs of this hack are easily sub-hour. I don't know when I'll feel like I have time on my hands to learn a new speedrun, and I never thought I'd be interested in speedrunning a SM romhack, but this one is kind of tempting.
