That's just the name I made up for it. It actually has the much plainer name of "Super Smash Bros. Melee Tournament." You might have recalled my excellent performance in The 64 Classic (which was also a name I made up), where I made it all the way to the end, overthrowing Mim's 3-tournament streak. Well, I'm up against CaseDoc in the first round of this one. I play so idiosyncratically, and you can see my performance here compared to how I did in the last few matches as proof.

As you could probably figure, this one's themed on Super Smash Bros. Melee. You need to have only Melee items and Melee stages (plus Battlefield and Final Destination) turned on. You're also restricted to characters who debuted in Melee (Toon Link doesn't substitute for Young Link). Since some of them didn't make the cut for Brawl (Roy, Mewtwo, Dr. Mario, Pichu, and Young Link), it reduces the possibilities quite a bit. Your choices are Marth, Mr. Game & Watch, Zelda/Sheik, Falco, Peach, Ganondorf, Ice Climbers, and Bowser. As a whole, I'm a lot worse with this set of characters than the last one...

CaseDoc has an uncanny way of allowing myself to take a lead, then narrowing the gap somehow that allows him to win. I'm dominating the first half of this match--Ganondorf is possibly the worst character to use in Big Blue, as he's slow and can't jump well. I foolishly contnued to engage him after I got KOed. With 26 seconds left on the timer, I should've gone up to that platform and played evasively to score myself a win, as Marth is pretty well-suited to dashing about.

I used to play remarkably well with Mr. Game & Watch. I don't know what happened, but I'm not nearly as potent using him as I used to. Also, CaseDoc's control of Peach is magnificent. (Perhaps not as much as FinalDamnation, who specializes in Peach.) Me, I can't get good with Peach no matter what I try. I use Toad, and everybody else gains some sort of clairvoyancy and sees it from a mile away. Toad almost never works for me--they either do a grab or attack the moment Toad goes away. (Among other things about peach I can't quite get the hang of, namely her smash attacks.) I decide to bring the game into Sudden Death and try to land on a random spot with Fire, but I learn a bit too late you can't air-dodge with the parachute. Oh well.
