I've read about this and had to test this at once.
NO Action Replay (AR) ir any other cheat modules were used (because i don't know how good this is for the save stats, i didn't use any Memory Card)

How to do this (when you don't want to read the forums):
- player 2 choses a char
- player 3 is a human player and doesn't has a char chosen
- player 2 puts his hand on "back"
- player 3 opens the name menu and puts his hand on "Name entry"
- player 2 and player 3 press nearly at the same time the A-Button (just press it at the same time, but player 2 has to press it 0,01secs (something about that^^) earlier - you can't do this, so just try to press A with both controllers at the same time)
- chose a stage
- u can attack with Masterhand when you do:
R+any direction on the Directional-Pad
L+any direction on the Directional-Pad
A+any direction on the Directional-Pad
B+any direction on the Directional-Pad
Z+any direction on the Directional-Pad

Masterhand can't die (just in stanima mode)
if u finish the fight, masterhand is called "Shiek" (in German, in English "Sheik")

this really works, try it and be astonished
