Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Road to Sakurai - The World of Online Tourneys! (PART 2) (7/25/20)
As the competitive scene in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate shifts to a greater focus in online tourneys, I decided to create a video in my Road to Sakurai series detailing what it's like to participate in an online competition! I entered six different online tourneys, and when I wrote the script for the video, it wound up being over 70 pages long. So I thought it'd be best to split this video topic into two videos. This video is the second part of the topic, and it discusses the latter three tourneys I entered!
This video also marks my tournament debut as Min Min, as at this time, she was the latest character to join my line-up of main fighters.

I'd also like to write about the absolute development "heck" it took to create this episode of Road to Sakurai. This video was originally slated to be uploaded around October 2020, just a month or two after Part 1. That obviously didn't happen, and here's why:
After completing "The World of Online Tourneys (Part 1)," I decided to take a few weeks' worth of a break from editing Road to Sakurai. That video's production wound up taking a lot longer than I had anticipated, so I wanted a bit of a chance to cool down. During this "cooldown" period, I was still working on a variety of other content for my channel, including a daily Animal Crossing series, Pokemon videos, and several background projects. So I figured, whenever I'd choose to work on the next part of "The World of Online Tourneys," that all of my other projects would need to be paused in order for me to put my focus into editing my next Smash video.
In October 2020, I received a new computer. The whole point of getting a new computer was to expedite my video editing process, as the computer I'd been using up to that point was nearly a decade old. I figured that it made the most sense to start editing my next Road to Sakurai video on the new computer once I set up everything. I transferred over my project files for most of my videos with relative ease, but for some reason, my Road to Sakurai files left me plagued with several issues. Some of my files were incompatible or flat-out corrupted. I had to essentially recreate several assets and reorganize a fair share of my files just to recreate my Road to Sakurai production process.
Any time I set aside to work on Road to Sakurai was often spent transferring files and recreating assets, which meant that very little work on my next episode was ever actually done. My work started to pile up as a result. Then, in early 2021, my computer started to have constant crashes. Normally, when I edit in a program, it may crash every once in a while; that's considered normal. But these crashes would crash my entire computer. Sometimes the crashes would corrupt an entire project file; I was even constantly saving my work and using creating back-up saves. This resulted in instances where I'd work on an episode, but it'd sometimes get erased due to circumstances beyond my control.
I finally managed to find more time to work on this series, but my computer was crashing more now than ever before. I would make one or two edits in my program, and then it'd crash. I basically had to walk on egg shells to make any slight adjustment to the video, and I had to edit the video mostly blind (that is to say, I couldn't always look over any changes I made to the project). Finally, upon finishing the project, the video would crash upon export. I tried various settings and workarounds, but my computer would still repeatedly crash. It kept crashing at random points, so it wasn't like anything on the video timeline was too complex. My workaround for this was to export the video in 2-minute chunks, take those chunks, and then export it all as one big video separately. This took a while, as this video is nearly an hour long.
I wanted to get this video done for so long, and now it's finally here. I'm so sorry it took so long. If there are errors in the video, I apologize; I couldn't really watch it as I edited. It's as if this episode wasn't meant to be, but at least it won't be blocking my production schedule any more. Hopefully future episodes will be easier to create!
Thank you, and enjoy! ;)
