Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Sephiroth Challenge (Richter, Very Hard)
Ultimate's patch of 10.0.0 comes with Final Fantasy VII's Sephiroth, as well as more Final Fantasy content that the franchise desperately needed in Smash.
From December 17th 2020 to December 22nd 2020, this patch also came with a limited-time event called Sephiroth Challenge. In it, you have to defeat Sephiroth in a Stamina Battle on either Easy, Normal, or Very Hard. The higher the difficulty, the stronger Sephiroth is and the more HP he has.
When you beat him for the first time, you unlock him ahead of his original release of December 22 2020. If you lose, you can always try again, though the original plan is that you only had one chance to do this.
I'm gonna focus on different characters beating him on Very Hard. More specifically, characters that were conscious to witness Sephiroth's arrival in the CGI moments of his trailer, as well as explaining what they did.
----------
While Simon was nowhere to be found, his descendant, Richter, was among the very first of the fighters shown in the trailer, having gotten blown back by an attack Galeem unleashed, and then needed some time to regroup and stand up.
Richter was still alive to witness Galeem's sudden defeat by Sephiroth's blade, but this also meant that the young Vampire Hunter would inevitably have to deal with another being would considers himself a god.
