Super Street Fighter II The Alternative Soundtrack - SMD Complete Soundtrack CD
Are you one of those Mega Drive/Genesis fans that feel unsatisfied with the way the official Capcom Street Fighter II soundtracks were arranged and came out sounding on the MD/Genny? Maybe you're one of those types that like a certain track from ''Special Champion Edition'' but prefer another track from ''Turbo Beta'' or maybe even ''The New Challengers''? Where ever your disappointment lies with any of the 3 official soundtrack arrangements, here is another Street Fighter II soundtrack custom made by MrDestructor90.
This soundtrack was made through the Ultimate Megadrive Soundfont by MrDestructor90 (NOT ME!) All I did was record it to a blank recordable audio CD-R. This take on the soundtrack uses very clear and heavy percussion, has a good variety of FM synths and bass patches and uses stereo separation quite well. Some tracks do appear to use artificial reverb on a single square wave rather than the two traditional square wave main and lag to create reverb and other tracks appear to have too much going on at the same time like you'll hear lots of tambourines, cymbals and drums going on at the same time which might not be possible on the real console but then again, if the YM2612's DAC channel is programmed and split into two it might be possible? And if it was ported to a MEGA-CD port, it would definitely be possible. Whether it's over the limit or not, it's still an alternative audio Mega Drive solution to one of the greatest fighting games in history!
There is also a few bonus tracks added on the disc which come from the XBox version of ''Hyper Street Fighter II'' which comes from ''Street Fighter Anniversary Edition''. These mixes use original Capcom Arcade CPS1 FM synthesis and sound just like they came out of the Mega Drive/Genesis, but the truth is that these tracks have nothing at all to do with the Mega Drive/Genesis and come from the original XBox console.
Below next to the track names I have listed what FM bass patches are used in each of the tracks.
