Firstly: To all my subscribers who awaiting anymore SEGA soundtrack vids from me, you'll be waiting along time because I haven't got the time right now to upload as often every few weeks like before, life is quite busy right now, but I thought of you which is why I spent a bit of time uploading this one in the meantime.

In this video you'll hear back to back a track from the great Shinobi III on the SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis ''Inner Darkside'' one of my favourites from the ost as it has really good drum work and great straight bass guitar, you'll hear it first from the vinyl record from Data Discs and then my own rip of the song recorded onto CD.

From close examination it appears that the very last part of the loop is cut off from the vinyl as it fades the track too early, while mine on CD plays for 2 loops and then fades out at the beginning of the third loop.

About Data Discs: Data discs are a small label based in London England and specialize in capturing video game music (mostly SEGA) from original hardware and making fine pressings on 180g vinyl records and then ship them off to anyone who buys them. These soundtrack records come in different colours and have artwork inside the sleeves, they're also fully licensed by the original composers who receive a royalty payment from each album sold. If you're into vinyl record collecting and you love video game music then these guys are for you!

Now here are the facts about CDs and records, the truth is both formats can sound really great and really bad! Retail albums made these days usually remasters are known to sound quite poor on CD due to compressed audio and a volume too loud, the same can be said for a remastered vinyl record pressing as you'll generally find that the remaster will always sound louder and at times more compressed on CD and vinyl, this is a retail record company issue, not a format issue. So comparing a remastered CD album to an original album pressing on vinyl or vice versa is not a true documentation of which format sounds better, which is why I chose to compare a vinyl record pressing sourced from original hardware and a home made CD-R also recorded from original hardware both playing the same song.

Lastly: With CDs you can actually stream them through the MEGA-CD attachment or Sega Saturn consoles making it all the more enjoyable. Vinyl records are very expensive and you need to have expensive hi-fi equipment for perfect sound. CDs allow you to jump to any track you like while records require you get up off your arse and manually move the arm to another desired groove. Dust, scratches and surface noise is another issue with vinyl records just as dirt can be an issue for the laser lens of a CD player.
