Supercruise: Approach
In this video, I'll show my personal technique in approaching a station from supercruise in the most efficient method possible.
[ 0:18 ] We start by exiting Witchspace, with the destination already selected. I turn my ship to face the station with throttle set to full.
[ 0:50 ] As I'm flying towards the station, I'm keeping an eye on the estimated time, as it is very important in the second-to-final approach.
[ 1:06 ] Once I see that the time is around ten (10) seconds, I decrease the throttle until the bar is just within the lowest point of the turning zone. This sets the time to a constant seven (7) seconds. In the video, I inch my throttle up just enough that I can rest on the speed ceiling, six (6) seconds.
**Note** When approaching, you never want the time displayed to go below six (6) seconds, or you will always overshoot your destination.
[ 2:06 ] As I navigate around the planet to the station and get near the dropping point, I keep an eye on my speed.
[ 2:17 ] Once my speed drops into the safe disengage zone, I increase my throttle back to full, thus shortening the time to normal space even more. I then drop out of supercruise
[ 2:34 ] Finally, I maneuver my ship towards the 'mailslot' of the station and, after requesting permission to dock, I dock at the station.
