Sometimes for editorial reasons, writers are forced to file off the serial numbers from a character. Sometimes it creates a great new character, like Jemm, Son of Saturn!

Original Text: Speaking of the Martian Manhunter's past diasporas, in the 70s/80s there was a period where he was shunted aside. But work had begun on a solo series for him at that point that was far enough into production they had to scrape off the serial numbers, creating Jemm Son of Saturn
Jemm had the big ticket powers of Martian Manhunter, but lost shapeshifting. However this still easily puts him in the range that can go to to toe with Superman.
His book was meant to be a sort of decompressed origin story of J'onzz, but now with the location changed to Saturn. Due to the legacy similarities, writers later found a way for Saturnians to be relatives of Martians.
I discovered the character when Grant Morrison used him in JLA and then Ostrander connected him to J'onn in his Martian Manhunter book. However, I'll be honest that I never read his solo series.
Most of what I know comes from his "Who's Who" article and select modern appearances.
And DC is flush with #supermananalogues, so he doesn't get much spotlight, but in a world where there were fewer character is capable of moving planets, he would be a heavy hitter.
In doing my image search, I see that there is an archive printing of Jemm's series. I may be picking that up soon.
And while I dropped the ball and did a Martian on a Friday, I'm glad I got to do a Saturnian on a Saturday. Given the love of characters being tied to the Sun, I'm sure I'll think of someone good for tomorrow too.
Oh, I'd like to remind everyone that I'd rather this be a conversation. I don't know a ton about Jemm and would love if people wanted to share their coolest stories about him.
