Superman Analogue: Superman X
In the Legion of Super Heroes animated series, Superman came face to face with an aggressive, kryptonite infused, clone of himself from the far future, Superman X!
This video was originally posted with me erroneously claiming that Legion of Super Heroes was on HBO Max. I was incorrect. It had been on DC Universe, and I mistakenly thought it had been brought over to HBOMax. That said, let's manifest that, because it should be seen by more! LONG LIVE THE LEGION!

Original Text: Deciding to do a days of the week thing sounded great but I've been kicking myself because I already did #MonEl from #TheLegionOfSuperHeroes who was named after Monday because that was the day he was discovered. So instead, I'll do his stand-in from the 2000s cartoon: Superman X
Now, a character named Superman might not really seem like an "analogue" per session, but this character was explicitly a foil to the classic Superman. Plus I'm going to have to get into the Superman family someday. I already did Mon-El afterall and this was the show's equivalent
Superman X was a clone created in the 41st Century to defeat Imperiex (Basically, if Apocalypse is a rip off of Mongul who is a rip off of Thanos who is a rip off of Darkseid, this is the rip off of Apocalypse) by taking Superman's DNA and combining it with Kryptonite
As a clone created as a weapon of war, he was aggressive, angry, and mission focused, while the OG Superman was thoughtful and pensive about his role in the universe
I completely missed the boat on this cartoon. I didn't even realize it was airing until the second season was over and no more came after that. However, I got it on Amazon Streaming and it's been a lot of fun, but I'm a big fan of the Legion (hi, @LegionBlog)
Design-wise, he's obviously modelled after the second costume worn by the Kon-El/90s Superboy (himself a Legion member at times in the comics)
And THAT costume had a test run in the #Elseworlds "Legends of Dead Earth" event where we saw how the heroes of the DCU influenced people generations later. I'm going to have to talk about that story at some point because it had a very interesting point about heroes and religion.
Ultimately, I'm sad I didn't get another appearance of Mon-El to talk about from this cartoon, but they did a really cool thing with Superman X. Sometimes a singular purpose can overwhelm a person's sense of self and finding the balance can be just as important as defining a role
