♦ Episode description: see below↓
In this chapter, Kate learns even more about Dana's past from reading her old diary, such as the fact that she had managed to avoid the 1938 pogrom of Vaghen by being sent away to a sanatorium, after her parents discovered that she was carrying Leon's baby. On her way back to the guesthouse, Kate is intercepted by the mysterious "Colonel Blake" - a.k.a. Frau Junta - who takes her to a distant cemetery on Baden Island, where she learns about the fate of Dana's baby and of Dana's subsequent move to Britain. There, now in the service of British special forces while World War II enters its last phase, Dana is offered a dangerous assignment in her own native country - an offer which she takes up gladly once she realizes that her "Alpine Lover" might be alive after all...
