Sydney’s Waratah/B set trains at Town Hall station
Hello everyone! I’m recording some Waratah B set trains at Town Hall station in Sydney.
Town Hall station was opened in late February 1932 and it has six platforms which they are split over two levels with three platforms on each level. This station was built by John Bradfield, who famously made the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the same year as that station opened.
The B set trains were a second subtype of the Waratah train sets that constructed at CRRC and Downer Rail respectively between 2017 to 2021, totalling of eight-carriage 41 sets made of these subtypes. B sets are numbered as B1 through B41. These trains replace the older S and C sets which have been phased out in 2019 and 2021. Waratah train sets currently served on T1-T3, T5 and T7-T9 lines.
The first shot in the video is B18 heading for Central station as it departs Town Hall. The next is B5 which pulls into the station and departs for Bankstown. The last but not least is B29, which is bound for Sydenham station. I also have a bonus photo of a destination board in Town Hall station including a photo of a Waratah train at St. Peter’s station. They were taken at Sydney CBD and St. Peter’s respectively on February 3, 2024.
