It was time to upgrade to a proper input device for my system shock themed home alarm system. This is using a raspi 4 + 10 inch touchscreen (MDS-101B06), the software is a small python + pygame application that sends messages to the REST API of my alarm server.
Yes I know that fingerprints could tell people the code. However, we use different codes so it should not be possible to tell the code from the fingerprints alone. Also, this is not a professional alarm system (which are often terrible btw) and the only goal is to raise an alarm in case someone breaks in while people are at home, i.e. the "dumb burglar who might beat you to death" scenario.
