T-MEK - Sega 32X - Intro and arcade mode with 32X extra stages [HD 1080p]
A heavily cut down port of the Atari arcade game, T-MEK is an arena based tank shooter. It's fair to say that based on the power of the 32X many of the cuts weren't needed and were likely down to ROM chip size costs. A fairly common game in the USA it can be picked up for a fairly low price the cartridge itself is region free and plays on either a European and Japanese 32X. Perhaps due to over stock of the USA version a handful of copies did arrive in Europe, however it is seen as the current holy grail of PAL 32X games and will set you back in the region of an eye watering £1000!
T-MEK is a fun title in short bursts it does however get very repetitive very quickly. The aim is to progress up the rank ladder. Each rank match see you competing for the highest score at the end, come first and you move up the ranks. Every so often you get a boss matches, which sees you in a death matches where respawning is turn off, so winner takes all in them. There are six tanks to choose from and each have their own abilities, however some of the lighter tanks get cut to ribbons in the later matches. Frame rate in game appears to be in the region of 20fps and it's not the smoothest game on the system as a result. On the plus side the 32X version has a number of extra stages not found in the arcade version, which you can select in the option menu to turn on or off. This video includes some of the extra stages added with the arcade+6 option selected.
Not the greatest game on the 32X and not the worst either it's worth owning a copy if you have one but just remember to go for the budget priced USA version, leave the PAL version for hardcore collectors.
