On a blind playthrough right now and thought I'd save this strategy that I thought worked well.

Spoiler - I initially failed the first attempt at rescuing The Rogue Diego, so reloaded and planned out a new strat.

I level capped my Gryphons and equipped dash so that they could ignore the Rampart skill and get to Diego ASAP with full cures, as well as drawing aggro to allow the backline to position for offense. 2x Valkyries were ready with boost if dash didn't proc, as well as supplying heals.
2x white knights to wall off my ranged units and cleric, as well as supplying heals as needed.

This went pretty smoothly, imo
