Curry Eating Contest (カレー早食い)
Minigame

This is the 3rd minigame in Taiko no Tatsujin: Appare! Sandaime.

In this minigame, you need to eat all the curry dishes as fast as you can. You eat the dishes by hitting the taiko rapidly. Each dish has a different level of spiciness, the spicier it is, the longer it will take to finish it. There is also a gauge at the left or right depending on which side you play indicating your fire breath. Filling it all the way up will turn your character yellow and breathe fire at your opponent. If your opponent retaliates, you can use the rim to protect yourself, as getting hit by the burning flames will slow you down.

This minigame is known for introducing a character who is considered one of the very few characters in the series with limited appearances, Indon. Indon is basically like the Mecha Don version of Currycutta Dondy, but WAY before Currycutta’s actual appearance in Wii 3. According to the game’s website, he was developed by an engineer from Calcutta at the Wadaiko Research Institute. He has three versions, Normal, Brother, and Dad, although they are exactly the same just with different expressions. Despite being completely forgotten after CS3, the minigame was not his only appearance. He also appeared in the Taiko no Tatsujin Clay Anime show nearly 3 years later in Ep. 22 entitled “Mecha Don World Grand Prix!!”. It’s also worth noting that Indon is the only taiko character in the Taiko no Tatsujin series to have a butt. I kid you not.

And if the minigame relies solely on drumrolling and fast reflexes with the rims to fire and protect, you think that your typical machine-gun-speed, key-spamming-fueled drumroll demon would be able to clear this minigame easily, right? Well, it turns out that when you play with the Dualshock controller, it will only allow you to press the circle button to eat the curry dish. And only that button. Because of that, I had to use my Tatacon controller to play the mingame. You can still technically clear the minigame without the drum controller, but it would get tedious to press the one button after just the first round.

Also, do you like my new outro? I would like to use this outro for my longer videos in the future. I’m planning to have like multiple variations for each video, so when you get the chance, please take a look at it! Be sure to also subscribe to my channel if you haven't already!
