By editing the memory values at 007F and 0080, one can essentially turn this game more challenging/easier by changing the number of tanks that appear in a level from the default 20 (14 in HEX) to anywhere from 1 to 255 (FF in HEX) instead.

However, BOTH values MUST BE EQUAL if you would like to try this yourself, due to the different game parametres that these two values take:

007F - this displays the number of tanks that (are still) need to appear in a level.
0080 - this displays the number of tanks that (are still) need to be destroyed to clear a level.

If 007F is less than 0080, the level will end with no tanks on the screen but not enough to clear a level.
If 0080 is less than 007F, the level will end prematurely while other tanks are still on screen.

So if two tanks are already on screen, the value of 007F needs to be 2 lower than 0080 (e.g. 1E and 20, respectively). This is why i paused the game at the start of the level so i can input the values correctly - if you do it too early (as in, before the screen has finished loading), the values will be reset to 14.

I chose the "pirated" version of Battle City (aka Tank 1990) because of the additional features that the original didn't have - namely random tank spawn, and the ability for enemy tanks to pick up powerups themselves.
