Tank Racer [Psx] - Intro
0Tank Racer is the racing game with a difference. Developed by the Glass Ghost team at Simis, Tank Racer offers the player '50 tonnes of Fun' as they blast their way around a multitude of tracks.
Viewed from a 1st and 3rd person perspective, the ultimate aim is to win the Championship in the fastest time - if this involves blasting everything in sight, so be it! The player has to choose from a set of twelve tanks, find numerous power ups and allocate powerful weapons.
There are four distinct modes of play. The one-player options are Championship mode in which 3 Championship levels must be completed - totalling 15 tracks and Single race mode -- a race against time. Multiplayer options include Battle mode and multiplayer race mode. The single and multi player levels are played out over numerous tracks and arenas.
The Playstation version has a multiplayer option (split screen).
4 camera views: Behind Tank, Further Behind Tank, Inside Tank, Bonus View (you need to win this one!)
8 power ups:
Homing Missile Locks onto the tank you are aiming at and homes in on it.
Concussion Shell Causes a shockwave to come out from the point of impact. This shockwave causes any tank that it hits to spin off.
Turbo Gives 8 seconds of Turbo Aceleration.
Mines Drops 3 mines behind your tank, which when driven over cause you to lose control.
Shield Gives you a shield for 10 seconds. If you are shot whilst you have the shield the weapon will have no effect o you.
Alien Abduction When a tank is hit with this it will be abducted by a UFO and transported back down the track.
Electro Mine Causes you to loose control of the tanks turret for 6 seconds.
Slider Rizer This is a mine based weapon that causes the tank to slide around as if out of control.
