[TAS] Doom 2 Map 18 Stroller Co-Op in 0:01.66
I normally wouldn't post a video with the input display and coordinates on but because it's stroller I thought it was more interesting to leave it on in this instance.
I found this while poking through my demo folder, I totally forgot I did this. This was just a proof of concept that I guess I intended to optimise one day but I never got around to it. The fact that this is possible with stroller inputs shows that the weirdness of map geometry really is a massive factor when it comes to stuff like this being possible, and tends to be more of a factor than just having high movement values. In fact if you open this up in XDRE and change tic 53 to “MF1 TR66“, so actually slightly running AWAY from the door, the clip still works! Map geometry is so strange that running in the wrong way, and really slowly at that, can still increase your momentum value by more than 10 units in a single tic. When it comes to stuff like this, when you run a brute force to find the most optimal movement for a clip or a diagonal wallrun, sometimes the solution that gets found consists of extremely strange inputs that are the last thing you’d think to try yourself.
I should also point out that while this is a multiplayer demo it does use the player 1 and 3 start positions because they’re closest to the door, which does make this a misc demo. I’m fine with that because this was just meant to be a proof of concept anyway.
