It seems like the developers had a bit of mix-up by allowing very little time for where the platforms are actually underwater! For the first 6 rounds, you must be on the correct mushroom colour to survive. Starting on round 7, you can survive anywhere with a well-timed jump and stomp, and beginning on round 13, simply jumping is enough. Once the game reaches round 25 however, the platforms fall faster than gravity and you must either jump beforehand, or simply mash Z. From what I can tell, this game can be played infinitely. This isn't possible on Hexagon Heat however.
