Many Prodigies asked if Mama is only a prototype, so I decided to take another look at the more cryptic secrets that the devs cleverly weaved into this game in this Tattletail Conspiracy Theory! *** The Facts ***

We know that Mama may have been banned due to harming a child, as the Tattletail steam page mentions that Mama Tattletail may have bitten a child's eyes out. We also know that there are secret codes that you can enter when you put the VHS in the child's TV. These can be obtained from the product tag in the secret ending and one of them corresponds to a scene change that shows a room full of mamas

When observing the room full of Mamas, we can see that one of the Mamas is looking around, suspiciously. On top of this, there is another code that you can enter in the VHS sequence to show an image of a wall that plainly says "04-Prototype" on it.

Mama is probably also hand-made, as when we get the secret ending, we can see a message saying that Tattletails are "hand-made with love" on their product tag.

*** Is Mama Tattletail a Prototype? ***

It looks like Mama can be branded as a prototype as it seems that it is present in a testing facility run in the USA by Waygetter. Waygetter Electronics may have been trying to create a brand new Mama Tattletail to make up for the shortcomings of the original version that had to be banned in the past.

Looking at the VHS tapes in the game and trailer, we can see that Waygetter might have actually intended to include Mama's brand new release date on the commercial to coincide with the release of rare-coloured Baby Tattletails when Christmas came around. Due to the Mama massacre, this would have to have been changed at the last moment.

However, who asked for this change? Who actually made the changes? The VHS tape made it look as if Mama wiped out all of the Waygetter employees. Is Mama actually a secret weapon being used by a rogue employee, or is it really acting out on its own will?
