CORRECTIONS:
-Fafhrd canNOT wield a shield while still gaining the extra damage from Implement's Empowerment. (That ability requires you hold nothing but one-handed weapons, implements, and esoterica in your hands, while holding an implement). Fortunately, he never had occasion to use it in these battles! =D
-Amulet's Abeyance is MORE powerful than in this video! You or your ally gains resistance to all damage equal to 2 + YOUR LEVEL (not half level). So resist all *9*!
-Shooting with a bow requires 2 hands. Here Willard and Rose still could have fired with their bows, so long as they Released their Implement from their other hand as a free action. Generally, you want a one-handed ranged weapon with the Ammunition Thaumaturgy feat, also because that lets you STILL use Implement's Empowerment's bonus damage!
