Team 17's Body Blows for the Commodore Amiga - Game of Death edition
Who wants to play spot the origins of the retrogaming digitised voice sample? For this exercise, we'll require a copy of Team 17's Amiga beat 'em up, Body Blows, and a stack of vintage martial arts movies.
This one was swiped from Bruce Lee's final movie, Game of Death. In a cruel twist of fate, given the title, Lee tragically died during the production. Subsequently, his unfinished movie was tackily revised and exploited numerous times, resulting in a hodgepodge of old footage, poorly matched stunt doubles and cheap, insensitive trickery. Unsurprisingly, it's not well regarded amongst Bruce Lee fans. Game of Death's producers, Golden Harvest, further tarnished the memory of the world's most iconic martial arts legend with the release of a pseudo-sequel known as Tower of Death, released in 1981.
Oddly, when Body Blows was reworked for the Amiga 1200, Junior's victory taunt was swapped for the one you hear at the end of this video. In case you can't decipher it, he declares "I own you boy"... even when aimed at Maria.
