⭐Ted Danson's Comedy Return Just Officially Smashed A Cheers Record After 31 Years⭐
Ted Danson’s return for the final season of HBO’s longest-running comedy show means the actor has finally beaten a record that Cheers has held since 1993. Danson rose to fame in the 1980s on the hit sitcom Cheers, where he played former baseball player-turned-bar owner Sam Malone. The show ran from 1982 until 1993 for a total of 11 seasons, and even spawned a spinoff, Frasier, in which Danson reprised his most famous role.
The actor has had plenty of memorable sitcom stints in the years since Cheers’ ending, even taking on the lead in major TV shows like The Good Place, Becker, Damages, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. However, only one show has rivaled the longevity of Danson’s role on Cheers. While Cheers’ 11 seasons previously held the record for being the Ted Danson TV show with the most seasons, his 2024 return to the HBO sitcom he’s been on since 2000 means that title has finally been stolen.
After appearing in Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12, episode 3 on February 18, 2024, Larry David’s hit comedy show is now Ted Danson’s series with the highest season count. Danson debuted as himself in Curb Your Enthusiasm season 1, episode 2 all the back in 2000, and has appeared in nearly every season since, including the twelfth and final outing. With Curb Your Enthusiasm’s 12 seasons, the show surpasses Cheers’ 11 seasons and establishes itself as Danson’s longest-running show based on season count.
Of course, considering Cheers lasted only 11 years, Curb Your Enthusiasm’s 24-year span means it passed the ‘80s sitcom in being the longest-running show based on years back in 2012. Though Danson had a stint on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, which ultimately spanned 15 seasons, the actor was only on the show for seasons 12–15, so he didn’t have a long-running presence on the series, comparatively. However, with Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12 being the show’s last, the actor could eventually have this record stolen yet again by another series.
