TENET - Early Access Watcher -
Disclosure: This game is currently free to play with an option to purchase DLC to support the developer. (It comes with the in-game currency, Runes)
In a small corner of the underworld, you are tasked with fighting off demons in arena combat. Equipped with a mechanical suit, it is up to you to shoot, punch and stomp out the evil attempting to kill you in a small circle illuminated by the light. Gather runes from your fallen foes to grow stronger with purchasable runes that will hopefully give you the edge to last longer in the ring. Death is inevitable, but that doesn't mean you can't take a few hundred demons with you.
The game has some visual issues that make playing it for more than an hour difficult. The overall lighting is dark and the particle effects are overwhelming at times. The sound levels also fluctuate after a certain point into the first portion, but it isn't as noticeable as the gun fire that increases in volume when shooting upward. As for the gameplay, you sprint around a small circle shooting demons until the boss appears. The combat is solid in terms of shooting and hit detection, but it is possible to get stuck on random nothingness from time to time. The application of runes lowers cooldowns, increases attack speed and reduces delays between health regeneration activation. The effects are not very noticeable until you stack certain perks, but they do make a difference. It only has the one arena and less than 10 enemy types, but it was worth trying out at the free price. I wouldn't play it again, but I don't regret the time I spent with it.
