Star Traders Frontiers - Early Access Watcher -

I am still playing through this game, so please use this as a first impressions. The level of customization for stat increases and attributes is welcomed with the crew and captain all playing a major role in determining the success of constant skill checks and battle engagements against multiple factions in a warring universe. The story so far is interesting, dealing with a nefarious plot to weaken a rival faction (not very long at this point though) along with the standard "go here and kill this" missions.
The key element to the game is time, focusing on decision making and proper maneuvers to achieve better rewards. Reputation gains can be rewarded if you take longer to deliver cargo or you could miss a chance to capture a bounty if you take too long. Rolls of the dice also come into play as some missions require skill checks to progress as well as most dialog options. Crew management is also key in managing basic ship functions and passing many of the roll checks. Abilities are awarded for leveling up that can remove danger cards, provide useful stat increases in dangerous situations and increase ship proficiency. This leads to more gameplay options and possible ship upgrades, but requires regular wage payment and leave time to ensure morale is always at a sustainable level.
Graphics work rather well, especially the artwork for the planetside views and character portraits. Music complements the setting well and combat is simple to grasp. It is also great to see a minimal level of bugs and text issues. I don't want to give a verdict yet due to the open ended nature of the game, but I am enjoying it so far.
