An historic period drama adventure game by Sunsoft based on a then-long running TV show of the same name.
Mito Koumon takes place in 16th century Japan. It follows the elderly Tokugawa Mitsukuni, legendary lawmaker and former daimyo of the Mito region, and his two retainers Sasaki Sukesaburō and Atsumi Kakunoshin, as they enter towns incognito and solve problems regarding political corruption, crime bosses and other problems plaguing the common folk. Only after solving the problem would Tokugawa reveal his identity. Tokugawa was doing Undercover Boss centuries before it was cool.
Aside from its comical anime dipections of the Mito Koumon characters, the game was rather noteworthy for its large amount of digitized speech using the DPCM sample channel. Being an adventure game, it has a considerable amount of text, making it a daunting challenge for a possible fan translation.
