The characters were designed in a 3D anime style, with both male and female fighters available. In the early stages, developers were discussing having a super deform mode and some other surprises as well.
The characters would have had a variety of fighting styles, all designed under the creative awning of James Goddard, who worked on Capcom's Street Fighter series as well as on Namco's Weapon Lord among others.

The game feels and play like a Street fighter EX game, so if you are famliar with that game series, it's should be easy to play. One unique thing of the game is that during a thrown or a super, you can mash out to charge a hyper mode meter.

This game has a counter system, one that seems to be mastered by the last two opponents you face who seem to counter 99% of the time. You just press weak punch and weak kick at the same time and your character will counter. The timing on it's strange and janky.

Every character has supers but many of them do not connect properly. It was one of the few games in 1998 to have supers in a 3D environment.
You can can a side step, to do that tap forwards twice, i know it feels weird to do.

Last but not least, the game has a hyper mode, with meter bar in the bottom once it's filled, your character's super meter vanishes and while it is gone you can do one really big powerful super.
