Tesla Supercharger V3: Everything you need to know || version 2019.7.11
Tesla's launched their new Supercharger V3 tonight. I am disappointed there was no live stream, however with that said, the specs and everything around the Supercharger V3 look very impressive.
Firstly, there is almost no visual difference between the two. The new V3 has a slightly less thick cable. The one you would connect into your Tesla to charge.
Let's look at the specs:
- 250kW charging.
- No longer shared energy
How does this translate to a real charge?
- LR Model 3 that's 18+ miles a minute
- 75 miles of charge in 5 minutes
- Less than 15 mins of charging per 3 hours of highway driving
- 50% less time charging and around 15 minutes total at the supercharger
- 80% max? Can someone confirm this?
Currently, only Model 3 owners with Early Access and version 2019.7.11 can use the Supercharger V3, in the Bay Area. Open to everyone with more locations come Q2. Tesla also plans to update the current supercharger network... “Additionally, we are also unlocking 145kW charge rates for our 12,000+ V2 Superchargers over the coming weeks.”
Software update 2019.7.11 includes:
- Supercharger V3
- Condition Battery: reducing average charge times for owners by 25%.
- Key Fob Summon (Model 3)
I will have more in depth videos on the new software update as well as supercharger v3 when I get access. Thanks for reading :)
