TEST DRIVE III - THE PASSION (DOS)
102Zeus presents Test Drive III - The Passion for the Dos system, a somewhat disappointing sequel from the golden era of Dos gaming which should not be forgotten alongside the software house and all programmers that were involved in making this game.
Year of release: 1990
I was at the height of my teenage gaming life when Test Drive I & II came out on the Atari ST and Amiga, and I remember being very impressed by them epecially when TD1 came out as I was still only an 8-bit owner.
Fast forward a few years and news broke out of Test Drive III, sadly it was only going to be released on Windows Dos, so us Amiga and ST owners just had to face the facts that we wouldn't get the chance to play it.
Wipe those tears we told each other shortly after it this second sequel was released as it turned out not to be so special after all.
Test Drive III became a 3D polygon affair drastically taking a different direction of the first two games,...and we hated it, making the bitter pill of not having it on the other systems far tastier.
At the time it was a horrible change, polygon graphics, blocky cars, music that I personally found horrible, terrible engine noise and most importantly it was hideous to control your car even at slow speeds.
Forward to today and I still feel the same as I did then, however I now do appreciate that for that time the polygon graphics were quite impressive and it was a glimpse of what games were going to look like in a few years,...look at Virtua Racer for starters.
All in all not very enjoyable due to the terrible controls and out-of-tune sounding music, stick to Test Drive I & II.
