Test Driving DreamWorks Dragons Adventure World Explorer
We take DreamWorks Dragons Adventure World Explorer for a test drive.
OVERVIEW Flying around a 3D virtual world collecting things is common practice in video game design. But what if the world included real map data -- stuff like the current weather, your location, the fact that there's a Peet's Coffee around the corner? That's the idea behind DreamWorks Dragons Adventure World Explorer, a virtual scavenger hunt game designed for car trips (you can also play locally). The game will come free; pre-installed on Windows powered mobile devices, including the Lumia 930, uses Microsoft's HERE Maps -- a competitor to Google Maps -- to turn real map data into in-game events. Our child testers gave it a run and flagged strengths and weaknesses that you'll want to read about in the August 2014 issue of Children's Technology Review (http://pickyteacher.com)
