TEST EDIT: "The Force Awakens" (Feedback Appreciated!)
3This was a short test edit I made for "The Force Awakens". When Kylo Ren kills Lor San Tekka in the opening scene of the movie, I just felt the camera making 3-4 quick cuts made the sudden kill feel very slow and clumsy. When editing, I noticed that the actual "kill shot" was a very close continuation of the shot before, where Kylo Ren ignites his lightsaber, so I edited the scene together and mixed the audio. I think the result feels much more sudden and shocking to the viewer, since the camera does NOT cut away from the "first person perspective" of getting gutted by a lightsaber, and only cuts to show Lor San Tekka fall to the ground. The audio of the lightsaber and the reaction of the townspeople are mixed better so that it simulates the gasp of a theater audience.
