Well after having so many recording problems with the ps2 when trying to record it with component alone and component to hdmi I found the composite cable for it in one of my boxes and was finally able to make a clean video.

Something about the way the ps2 sends the video signal out just makes everything go to hell with both Roxio and Elgato so it's best to just go composite since component isn't a higher quality option for me.
