Test Run - The First Tree
3Welcome to The First Tree, an Atmospheric experience game with a story surrounded in the topic of coping with death and the loss of a loved one. Yes this is a very serious game folks.
Beautiful art, Beautiful music, Very Deep very wonderful story. I had a couple issues with a glitch or two and some spots where I got stuck, a few where I got lost, but ultimately not enough to dissuade me from continuing the game and seeing it to the end.
Being a person who has lost a few people in my life as well as someone who has been a part of a good few undesired situations, many parts of this game really rang home and got me so focused I found myself lost for words. I was initially attracted to this game for it's art style, and at the time we got to the water and stars section I was immensely impressed with just the way the mood pulled me in and locked me into everything going on within the game.
Death is a very tough topic and I feel they did a great job expressing the emotions in the narration as well as through the visual representation of the fox dealing with it's own loss.
At first I wondered about the kind of whispering, but if you were having a conversation about someone you loved passing you would probably do so in a quieter tone, it fits.
If you are dealing with this topic in your life or if you have done so or even if you haven't I feel this game can help to experience someones perspective in this situation and maybe help you to overcome your own situations through shared situational information.
It's hard, life is hard, together we can over come and, with the memories of those at heart, work towards a better tomorrow.
