Test your skills at this one of a kind digital ax-throwing range
Throwing axes for fun has got an upgrade at NY Axe Throwing Range in Farmingdale.
After doing his research and taking a few trips to the city, Carl Mazza wanted to bring the ax-throwing industry to Long Island.
However, he wanted to take it up a notch, by upgrading the way the game is played not just with a board and bullseye, but with a digital projector and games to choose from.
"It’s a digital ax-throwing range where you are throwing real targets against the wood with projected images on the wall," said Mazza.
"We have tic tac toe, connect four, and you can even throw at zombies. It’s really a fun time, great for families to come down, and you can do corporate events during the week," said Mazza.
As soon as you walk in with your group, you sign your waivers and are walked through a training seminar since you will be throwing real axes from an "ax-pert".
"You learn the basics on how to hold the ax, how to throw the ax, and then you are brought to one of the lanes," said Mazza.
The 'ax-pert’ will then join the group and assist them when it comes to getting their footing with throwing the axes at the target.
You can score from one to six points, the closer you are to the bullseye, the higher the score.
By alternating throws and switching through two different axes to choose from, you can find land your technique.
"It’s definitely safe and the instructors show you what to do," said Anissa Rodriguez, who was joined by her family for some fun on a Monday night.
"They walk you through the whole process, so there is nothing to be worried about. Pretty much when you walk in and you are part of the crew," said Rodriguez.
