Testing ASDFG.ME Osci app with C. Allen's Planned Obsolescence.wav (Oscilloscope Music, 720p60)
5Having run out of ideas, I decided to show off a little test on my X-Y oscilloscope (Oscilloscope! v1.0.7) I downloaded at https://asdfg.me/osci. In a nutshell, WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU HEAR.
As far as I know, I can name Mr. Jerobeam Fenderson as the father of the Oscilloscope Music concept that targets making a musical composition using various line-level audio signals capable of drawing meaningful raster or lissajous figures on an X-Y Oscilloscope screen. Anyway now the audience is more likely to prefer Chris Allen's work as shown in this video because of a proper musical value and a beat. I'm not judging anyone. Both of them are very much good at what they are doing as contemporary artists.
One can have a clearer image of what they do to secure the precision by having a glance at a typical .wav file dedicated to an Oscilloscope Music track. Even I was surprised as this original file is weighing a whopping 197MB. And look, there's no point to compress this further to an MP3 file since the compression architecture is overwhelmingly lossy. OGG Vorbis might play that role better, but in this occasion, I chose to play the .wav file but having sped up a little bit. (Whatever happens, I want 60 FPS. That's my weakness.
