The Blue Yeti is a USB microphone with a reputation for excellent quality at a budget price. In this video I test it out on Linux in comparison to my headset mic.
Some conclusions from the test:
1. There is far less electrical interference on the Yeti recordings than though my headset.
2. My breathing is also less audible through the Yeti (let me know if you disagree).
3. Interference and background hum from my computer is much more audible on the Yeti, particularly when the mic is resting on the same table as the computer.
I'm going to experiment with placing it to the side or on the bookshelves behind my computer desk and see how it goes.
