Just me trying out some new equipment, and this is the starting result, so don't expect a quality video just yet... It's very janky, yes, but I'm free to make this a testing ground of sorts. But hey, if you're interested in the game, this is Crypt of the Necrodancer, a roguelike rhythm game (Did I even mention the full name in the video?). An odd combination, but it works quite well. It's fun, although it does have a very steep learning curve, so be weary. I just make it look easy, especially when I'm talking over it.

Technically speaking, this was some heavy integration work for me, and there were a lot of things I wanted to test out and observe. I did contemplate just trashing the video since first recording attempt (post-trials) didn't really go too well, but on the other hand, I also want to show that I do experience problems, and that they get fixed rather quickly (After this video, or the next one, actually). So let's talk about everything new I wanted to learn and observe. Most of these changes came from getting a computer. New keyboard, higher power output, different setup, etc. Since this computer is a bit older, and obtained without me knowing much about it, a fair bit had to be experimented with. For one, I wanted to play around with mic range. For all of the videos so far, the mic was point-black to my face since my voice was quiet, but it resulted in peaking at times. So I wanted to try to put the mic further and raise the gain. As you can see, the current result is capturing the (*extra) clicky keyboard. But hey, you might be into it, so I donno. I solved the problem just after the video, but once again, trying to capture progress. I also wanted to observe the processing power of the computer on 60fps by playing an intense rhythm game to see what would happen. Because of this, I now now that it isn't entirely capable, meaning I do have to lower the quality, as observed by the skipped beats in the game. This was hard to catch while testing, since I don't manage to catch it happening in the moment. Finally was the audio balancing test, in which I wanted to compare the sound of my quiet voice to a louder game. Since I did have to redo all of the settings on OBS, this is progress on trying to find the right balance between voice and music. Although it might be too quiet (?), audio did feel balanced, and it's something that I can fix easily for next time. So at the very least, I can get a feel for balancing. All in all, not quite a restart in progress, but just a bit of a jump and getting used to things quickly. Hopefully I can prove it with the next one (Or it might be the one after, depending on what I release).

There's a lot of tech talk and progress, which is why I wanted to upload this the way it is. Not only does it show real change and growth, it will also show future growth and development, as always. It may not be immediate, and I'll rarely point out small change (In fact, I'd probably be talking about my current challenges), but the change will be there. But it was still fun to try and see how well I'd do talking and playing a rhythm game.
