I came across the open source software Open Broadcaster and thought it'd be fun to try! In this tutorial-esque video, I figure out how to use Open Broadcaster to record video game play for use in a Let's Play video. You know, so I can share my awesome gaming skills with the world...(ahem)... I try it out a tiny bit on Garry's Mod.
Open Broadcaster can also be used to live stream gaming to Twitch, Youtube, and many other sites. The software is
one of the easiest video capture softwares I've used and it has plenty of useful features. Also, it's free! But it's probably a good idea to make a donation to those who made it. :)
Open Broadcaster's video output file is in FLV format, which isn't supported in my video editing software. I show how to quickly and easily convert the FLV (using FLV Extract) to a more useful MP4 file that retains the same quality as the FLV. And that quality is pretty good, both image and sound.
Thanks for watching! Take care out there! (^.^)v
