1I decided to see if my new Aiptek camera (Action HD from 2008 or so) could record rewinding a tape with TBC. It cuts out without TBC (so unfortunately, it's not quite as good on the video end of things as my old Aiptek camera from 2006/2007), but with TBC, so long as the picture does not go black (like it does when I record over things with my SVHS camera in playback), it does fine with the TBC unit. I still think I'll stick with my Panasonic AG-HVX200 for doing tape transfers because then I can deinterlace with QTGMC and upscale to 720p60 if I need.
