8Terrorpods, released in 1987 by Psygnosis and developed by Icon Design, is a sci-fi shooter with strategy elements that first hit the Amiga and Atari ST before being ported to 8-bit.
The ZX Spectrum version earns points for ambition, squeezing a complex game into limited hardware. The strategy elements have been stripped back completely, but this is still an enjoyable romp. Having never played Terrorpods before, I wasn't expecting this game to be this good.
