Putting this video up showing how Chemistry Sets work.

As far as I know they are random drops. Each Chemset has a list of components/ingredients/reagents needed to create a Strangifier. This Strangifier can then be used on a very specific misc.

The list of ingredients appears to be completely random. Completely. With the exception of always needing some sort of strange weapon as an ingredient (There are some chemsets that are hats only, but I don't know much about them).

These strange weapons can be very easily found like the silver botkiller knife in mine, or I've seen things like strange diamond botkiller mk.II rocket launcher be needed for some.

When the set is completed, you don't actually create the strange misc, but you create a strangifier which can be applied to the misc, much like the bacon grease is to the pan.

Once this misc has been strangified, it now tracks all points that the player earns. As far as I know this basically means that as long as you wear this item, it keeps a cumulative count of whatever your score is at the end of a round.
