Thailand is currently considering a $36 billion land bridge to connect two ports and create a bypass for the Straight of Malacca. I think a canal would have been a better choice, also since Malaysia is also currently creating a land bridge. This video was interesting though, and it will be interesting to see how this plays out in the future. It will also be interesting to see how this affects Singapore, since a lot of Singapore's economy relies on transshipping and the Malaccan Straight.
